The brief glimpses into the psyche of a young Iranian woman dealing with the turmoil of a country torn apart by revolution and war while trying to find an identity that can be accepted by her western peers was both well described and well communicated at the same time.
Apparently, the world as we know it was created by God 6,000 years ago and dinosaurs, canyons, mountains and all the wildlife in the world came into being upon the happenstance of a global flood.

In Alfonso Cuarón's recent movie "Children of Men" we see a brilliant portrait of a world in which the concept of 'human' is brought to the front of our imagination. Alfonso Cuarón has previously introduced his touch for human emotions and behavior with "Y tu mamá también." In this new film, we are introduced to a dystopic nearby future in which, for unknown reasons, humanity has borne its last child 18 years ago.

Every once in a great while, someone writes a book that completely revolutionizes the way in which people view themselves and the universe they are a part of. Richard Dawkins’ book “The God Delusion” is decidedly not one of those books.

This is a collection of poetry by Iranian born Mahnaz Badihian who has lived in the US for twenty-five years. Half the poems are translated from Persian and half written in English.
The subtitle of the collection is ‘A Voice form a Road between East and West’ and her work aims to mediate a space between the two cultures. However, this collection represents the emotional difficulty and struggle of negotiating the loss of home regardless of the length of time spent in the country of exile.

About the Book
From Zayandeh Rud to the Mississippi is a voice from East and West – a voice so Romantic, Simple and Philosophical. Half of the poems were originally written in Persian and translated by the poet herself into English, the other half were originally written in English. Her work is the path that makes the poetry connection of these two cultures easier to navigate.
